Southend Pier Cultural Centre – Kier Construction Film
A film commissioned to highlight the complexities of an exciting building project.
A new £3m cultural centre, weighing 170 tonnes, was hoisted by crane on to the end of Southend Pier. The 350 sq m (3,767 sq ft) steel structure was brought in by boat in one piece from Tilbury where it was built.
The centre includes a multi-purpose hall seating 185, artists’ studios, a cafe and outdoor terrace.

Apricot Films was asked to film this key phase of the project on behalf of the multiple stakeholders involved including Kier, Price & Meyers, White Arkitekter, Sprunt, GPS Marine & Southend Borough Council.
